Fundamentals to Contemporary Floorwork
This class is designed to help you explore the art of floorwork through a series of guided exercises that build trust in your body and its relationship to the floor. You’ll learn efficient movement concepts unique to floorwork, such as expansion and contraction, while developing strength, mobility, and confidence.
We’ll focus on foundational elements like breath work and how it translates to smooth floor sequences, upper body and core strength to support movement, and the balance between ease and effort. You'll also learn practical skills like how to safely fall, recover, and roll. Together, we’ll discover the flow of movement that connects us to the floor in a safe and supported way.
Ideas We Will Explore Together:
- Ebb and flow of breath to enhance floorwork sequences
- Building upper body and core strength for support in motion
- Releasing tension to find balance between ease and effort
- Safely falling, recovering, and rolling
Class is open to all levels.
